An Alternative Way to Charge a Laptop Battery

Few devices can rival the value and versatility of a functioning laptop. Unfortunately, as these products are exposed to wear and tear, they can become less efficient and begin to malfunction. One of the most common and most troublesome problems that can arise is a broken AC adapter or charging port. Once you encounter this problem, it can be a huge hassle to keep your laptop properly powered, which can lead to loss of data and general frustration. Thankfully, you have a few options for alternatives to your normal AC adapter that can quickly get your laptop running again.

Charging Docks

Laptop charging docks come in a number of different styles and formats. These docks function as an external charging station, and can be used to circumvent a faulty charging port. Some docks feature extra features such as additional USB hubs or external display ports, while other docks are simply for charging a battery outside of the laptop it is associated with. Laptop docks can be especially appealing for their ability to not only return your existing laptop to working condition, but to also add new functionality to your machine. If you're having trouble deciding on a laptop dock, or are curious about the range of options available, consult the laptop dock link in the Resources section of this article.

Solar Power

Another interesting way to power your laptop is through the use of solar charging devices; these devices can range from small portable fold-out USB devices to elaborately designed bags and totes which feature solar panels and an outlet port. Solar charging can offer you an unrivaled level of freedom and portability with your laptop as you never need to worry about finding a power outlet to recharge your machine. Solar charging is a great way to extend the life of your laptop with an earth friendly solution, but you'll want to be sure that you find a solar charging device that is capable of outputting enough energy to keep your machine powered.

If the other options seem like too much of an investment, or do not suit your needs appropriately, you can always opt for repair or replacement. If you are simply working with a faulty cord or battery, you can check the manufacturer's website for replacement options. Internet marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon are also a good place to look for deals on replacement Toshiba laptop batteries and cords. If you believe damage to your laptop's charging port is to blame, you may need to send the machine in for repairs to return it to functionality. Check your user manual or warranty for more information about manufacturer repair.
